About us |
Before I discovered Ayurveda 3 years ago, I was a little skeptical about any medicine in general and was certainly not ready to even consider what we call "Alternative & Complementary medicine". At the time, I usually saw a doctor only when necessary, but I rarely saw one because I have been gifted with a good general health. My last visit to a doctor had been at least 6 years earlier. I had never missed a day of work in 20 years and considered myself to be a healthy individual. The only "medicine" I took was aspirin when I had headaches, which was almost every day. I thought that everybody had their own little internal disagreements and that we all just had to cope with them.
At the insistence of my daughters, I booked an appointment with an Ayurvedic practitioner. The session lasted 30 minutes and the practitioner took only my pulse; he did not ask me any questions or handle any other part of my body. That was easy! He then described my dosha to me (Vata), and prescribed a list of herbal products to take and massage oils to apply on my wrists. He also discouraged me from eating certain food such as wheat, potatoes and tomatoes (those can be good or fine for certain individuals but not for me). That was it! I could go home...
I carefully followed the diet prescribed as I did not want to argue with my daughters, especially when there are three of them at home!
After a couple of weeks or so, I met with friends who I had not seen for a while and they commented on my appearance. “You look younger! Did you lose some weight? What have you been doing?”
I realized at that moment that I felt really great; I had not had any headaches in the past few weeks. Plus, I was full of energy, sleeping very well and felt calm. Yes, I felt good; Ayurveda was working for me and still is.
A few months later, I went in for another consultation. Since it was a different season, the Ayurvedic practitioner suggested a slightly different diet and a different focus to avoid imbalance. After the consultation, he shared with me his idea of sourcing the best Ayurvedic products from India to serve his patients. With no hesitation, I said Yes ...and LetsAllBeHealthy.com was born.
